Introduction to survival

For many years, the term "survivalist" has brought to mind a picture of a old hermit who gave up the conveniences of modern society, dropped out of the government's databases and lives in a log cabin like in the gold rush days. The truth be known we here at Stormy Harbor know survivalists are more likely to be Gulf Coast residents buying hurricane shutters a few months before the next hurricane season, A North Dakota resident who keeps, a wool blanket, warm socks, and a few candy bars in the car during winter, or Californians preparing a three-day stash of food and water in case the next big one rocks their town. This isn't paranoia, it's sensible planning ahead. Like carrying a spare tire, even if you never need it, when you do you'll be glad you did.

There are plenty of online government resources which suggest a three-day emergency kit. But as we have seen in recent years, A three day kit might not be enough, especially if you live in a high risk of disaster zone. This website is designed to take you to the next level of preparation, Because in a true large scale emergency, three days of supplies may not be enough. We want you to be prepared for any emergency in any aspect.

Survival Defined

Most survivalists define survival as emerging from a natural or manmade disaster in a better position than the average person. In other words, you get get a second chance, while others may not. Preparedness means making preparations before disaster strikes to improve your chances of survival. Remember the old saying "A stitch in time saves nine?" It basically meant if you "fix" it now it won't be as bad later. Survivalists have a independant streak and choose to prepare on their own or in a small group rather than rely on government handouts to help them survive.
